Wythe Holt received a J.D. and a Ph.D. in American history from the University of Virginia. Born and reared in Hampton, Virginia, he taught at The University of Alabama School of Law for 39 years, where he is University Research Professor of Law Emeritus. He has produced several books, and his articles have appeared in, e.g., Labor History, Duke Law Journal, Osgoode Hall Law Journal, Virginia Law Review, and Wisconsin Law Review. His manuscript history of the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794 is presently under consideration for publication.
