WHAT I AM WORKING ON FRIDAY . . . or, LOOK MA, NO GETTYSBURG!
I got a lot of positive feedback, on last week's post, so here goes another.
Lots of things, but the most enjoyable is my review of the manuscript (to decide on how it should be designed before it goes into production) of Richard McMurry's magnum opus "The Civil Wars of Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston. Volume 1: Virginia to Mississippi, 1861-1863."
Many newer students are unfamiliar with Richard, which is a shame. He is one of the OLD GUARD of this genre, a true scholar of the highest order, and a real character.
Richard has been working on this for decades, and it took a lot of finagling (and the help of my friend Steve Davis of Atlanta) to get him to finish and part with it and allow me the honor of publishing it. I have known of Dr. McMurry since I was in college, so this is a real treat for me.
He is a wonderful writer and speaker, too. This is a military biography and sets the standard for this general. Out late Fall.
