Civil War Regiments Journal

Civil War Regiments was the brainchild of Theodore P. Savas and David A. Woodbury, who met in the fall of 1989 in San Diego, CA, at the West Coast Civil War Conference. As Ted asked Dave, "How often can you read about Pickett's Charge and Sherman's March in a 2,000-word cut-and-paste article?" Neither had any experience or knowledge of the publishing industry, and learned everything, including how to craft maps, from scratch.

The quarterly journal was published intermittently from 1990 - 2000.

Each book is a trade paperback 6 x 9 book of from 96 to 192 pages. Each offers balanced and in-depth military coverage (all theaters, North and South) in a lengthy non-partisan format with detailed notes.

CWR offers meaty, in-depth articles (5,000 - 18,000 words) with original maps, photos, columns, book reviews, and indexes. Each soft cover book is printed on acid-free paper with laminated covers for long, durable use. Many of these collector's issues are in short supply, or are long-gone (see below).

Some issues are SOLD OUT, and most are very low in stock (100 or fewer).

We are thinking about bringing this back in digital form. If you are interested, let us know!
