Civil War Regiments was created by Theodore P. Savas and David A. Woodbury after they met at the West Coast Civil War Conference in 1988. It began when Ted asked Dave, "How often can you read about Pickett's Charge and Sherman's March in a 2,000-word cut-and-paste article?" Neither had any experience or knowledge of the publishing industry, and they earned everything, including how to craft maps, from scratch.

The quarterly journal was published intermittently from 1990 - 2000.

Each paperback 6 x 9 book is 96 to 192 pages long and jammed with balanced and in-depth military coverage (all theaters, North and South) in a lengthy non-partisan format.

Each offers in-depth footnoted articles (4,000 - 18,000 words), original maps, photos, book reviews, and each 4-issue volume is indexed.

Some issues are SOLD OUT, and most are very low in stock (100 or fewer).
